With all the sights to see in Nashville, you’ll definitely want to put car rental at the top of your travel reservations list. At nearly 500 square miles, Nashville is definitely spread out and hard to see by bus unless you plan on being restricted to only the most popular of destinations. Outside of the hustle and bustle of Opryland, there is rich history to be discovered! Renting a car will give you the freedom to see it all, without having to wait for a bus or take expensive taxi cabs.

Just outside of Nashville, you’ll find the Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro, TN. This historic National Park was once the site of a Civil War battle and is now the resting place for more than 6000 Union soldiers. There you’ll find the Hazen Brigade, which is believed to be the oldest Civil War monument that is still intact. While in Murfreesboro, you can head over Cannonsburgh Village to get a glimpse of what life was like in colonial times. A one room schoolhouse, a gristmill and an old blacksmith shop still stand along with other points of interest.

Inside Nashville, you’ll want to get around a bit and see different historic sites of both our national history and the history of country music. There are some great local spots to listen to local country music artists as they hone their craft and prepare for their big break. Or catch a show with country music legends in the Ryman Auditorium by night, or visit during the day for a guided tour. Now how would you get to all of this excitement without a car? Remember, it’s a vacation and not a moment of it should be wasted waiting on a bus or taxi!
